I started teaching privately in 2004, and have been doing so in either my own studio or in the studios of others ever since.. In 2013, I started contracting with the Anaheim City School District to teach string classes in their after-school music program. Since moving to Texas, I have started orchestra programs at two different schools in Dallas county, while continuing to build my own studio. Whether in a private or group setting, the joy on the students' face is the most powerful motivator and greatest reward I know of. Read More

I have been teaching violin and viola for the last six years. My main goal is to make sure that student is having a great time learning how to play an instrument while making sure the student understands good practice habits. I want to make sure that the student has fun in their lessons and I make it my main priority. If the student wants to learn jazz, I am well versed in jazz and can teach jazz. Read More

With children, I typically start with Essential Elements for Strings by Michael Allen, Robert Gillespie and Pamela Tellejohn Hayes. I complement that with the Suzuki method and other fun easy songs I have picked through the years of experience . Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce etudes, scales, vibrato and eventually shifting; and of course solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For students that are children or just beginning I start with establishing foundations in music structure and rhythm. The Suzuki school of teaching is often used but not always. Intermediate students are flexible with where the lesson plan is headed while each lesson is tailored to the individual student's learning style. Intermediate students are coached on form, music theory, and musicality. Advanced students are even more flexible with lesson style depending on individual goals followed up with coaching on musicality and performance presence. Read More

I use a very concise methodology in my instruction. I evaluate the students level, from there I make a step by step guide (of selected piece and etudes) to show the student their progress into the next level. I also encorperate ideas in theory, history, and ear training. Also if the student has yet to learn how to read musical notation. that will be taught along side with regular instrumental lessons. I am a passionate instructor who enjoys working with students of all ages. I started performing, professionally, at a very young age, during my 6 years at the Alabama School of Fine Arts. From there, I attended the Louisiana State University, as a cello performance major and performed with the school symphony, as well as the Alexandria Symphony, the Lake Charles Symphony and local venues. I went on to get my Master's degree at Georgia State University and then returned to Louisiana State University for my final degree in Cello Performance. Read More
