I am an experienced teacher, with many years of experience teaching young children of all ages and abilities. I also have a lot of experience working with adults, mostly beginnners. I have performed with several orchestras throughout my career, as well as in many piano recitals. I consider French Horn my primary performing instrument, and piano my secondary. My journey in music took a couple of unexpected turns. As a youth, it was my intention to get a degree in trumpet performance, but life held a different path for me and I put the instruments away. Some years later, my wife- knowing how much I continued to enjoy music- suggested I take up trumpet again and I did, for which I'll be eternally grateful! I now perform in multiple ensembles in Westchester and Fairfield counties as well as in New York City in addition to maintaining a teaching studio where I can share my love of music. Read More

I usually start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for beginners. Once you progress with the basics, we move on to trumpet repertoire, whether trumpet solos or duets. For older students, we will begin with trumpet repertoire while combining it with songs that you like to listen to. We might also work on some transcribing whether it is a jazz tune or your favorite French horn solo - ear training is key to a great brass player. Read More

From 2011 to 2014, I was a Juilliard Pre-College mentor. It was my job to offer support and advice to students in orchestra and brass quintet rehearsals. At Yale, I became a Teaching Artist in 2015 and gave private lessons to Yale Undergraduate students. As a Yale Teaching Artist, I also worked for the Music in Schools Initiative, teaching classes, sectionals, and private lessons to students in public schools in the greater New Haven area. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Essential Elements of Band by Hal Leonard and Tradition of Excellence by Bruce Pearson and Ryan Nowlin. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce more advanced method books such as J.B. Arban: A Complete Method, and various etude books as well as solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. Read More
