I'm a driven and patient teacher with a deep desire to learn and to share knowledge. I've been performing on piano/guitar/saxophone/voice from a very early age and have continued to refine my craft. I've performed in numerous musicals throughout K12 eventually leading to my time at UGA where I received my Bachelors in Music. It is extremely important that lessons are relaxed and fun. The student needs to work in a supportive and safe environment which encourages risk-taking and exploration. Praise and positive reinforcement are essential. I like students to explore their creative sides through composition and improvisation. I introduce chords and harmony and have students develop their own arrangements of pieces studied, This gives them a sense of empowerment and discovery. I typically use a combination of Suzuki and Essential Elements for beginner students. I worked extensively with the widow of the author of Essential Elements, and I understand how to implement the strategies for optimal success. For intermediate students, I typically use a combination of Suzuki, scale books, and etude books. to ensure success. My main goal is to continue to build a good foundation for more advanced musical endeavors. Read More
