I am a very passionate and motivated instructor who loves with with students and sharing my love for music. I graduated in 2014 with my Bachelor's Degree in Music Educaton with a euphonium emphasis. I have had the opportunity to march Drum Corps, play in Concert Bands, Wind Ensembles, Orchestras, Quintets, Quartets, Pep Bands and Brass bands which has shaped me into the musician and teacher I am today. I have been playing/singing since 1980. My main instrument is Trombone but I have played Euphonium, Tuba, Trumpet, and Choir. I have been assisting Marching bands with the low brass section for the last 5 years. I have Taught privately for the last 10 years. I have performed in Community bands, orchestras,Jazz bands, Rock bands, Marching bands and Theater bands. I also take part in a holiday group that plays christmas carols for nursing home residents. Everything from Bach to Charlie Parker to Ariana Grande deserves respect and being open minded from a teachers point of view is very important to retain students. Furthermore, it is crucial to not overcomplicate musical concepts. Too many teachers try to confuse their students with the objective of feeling powerful and intelligent. I am a Doctor of Chiropractic who has enjoyed music for over 15 years! I started trumpet when I was in 5th grade and quickly realized music could be a fun hobby, however, needed some help in honing my skills. I started trumpet lessons at the University of Minnesota when I was 16 years old and continued to take professional lessons after attending St. Olaf College. For all ages and all instruments, you will be working on scales, chord progressions, transposition and reading of music for piano; scales, lip slurs, technical etudes, long tones, transposition and reading of music for trumpet; and scales, slurs, technical studies, transposition and reading of music for flute. For all instruments, there will be one key book that will cover everything you need to know. If you work with me on a longer term, getting the book would not be a bad idea so you can practice at home, although it is not required by me. Read More
