I am invested in providing music instruction to any who wish to study the art. I specialize in brass instruments, as both of my degrees were in music performance on euphonium. I have had performance experience in a wide array of ensembles from concert band, symphony orchestra, steel band, to brass choir and beyond. Instilling a fundamental mastery of the instrument and musicianship is my top priority, no matter how long it may take. My approach to methods will vary depending on the student. For beginners, I like using the Robert Getchell books, in addition to the My First Arban, Essential Elements, and my own exercises. About me? Well I'm a driven man who works hard and will work harder to see my students succeed. I started playing the trumpet in middle school and fell in love with the instrument. Since then I've advanced my studies through high school and college by playing in all sorts of bands and genres. During my time in some of these bands I've been deemed lead trumpet player of jazz big bands and principle trumpet player in orchestras and wind ensembles. Read More

With beginning piano students, I use the Faber series of lesson, perfomance, theory and technique books. It's a great set that progresses fluidly and keeps students well rounded in their skills. In addition, I encourage students to use flash cards to practice with note names and musical symbols and terms. For percussion students, I would teach basic snare drum and 2-mallet techniques.
