Teaching music is my life's passion. I followed that passion to earning a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Evansville in 2011. Since then I have been teaching students of all ages and levels. Since earning my degree I have performed on stages across the country in pit orchestras, bands, choirs, opera performances and as a solo artist on various instruments including the voice. Following high school, I spent six years scooping up opportunities, training, and degrees in music education. Another trip to Bangladesh opened my ears to the delightful and rich musical experiences of other, divergent cultures. It was now time to hit the classroom... and, for the next three years, I had the wonderful experience of teaching fifth and sixth graders in the general music classroom, assisting the band director, teaching second graders through twelfth graders in private lessons, and juggling up to twenty additional "outside" students! For all of my students, I stress the importance of fundamentals. Although I do use method books such as Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, I like to tailor warm ups and fundamentals to each of my students. Then, I like to incorporate the fundamentals into familiar songs and exercises to keep the lessons engaging and fun. I am an incredibly spirited and determined musician and educator who takes great joy in sharing music with as many people as I can. I am currently working on a BME from Indiana University, and while I still have a long way to go, I know full well in my ability to demonstrate my talent as a musician and educator. Performing all over the country has been one in a long list of wonderful and highly impact performances in my time as a musician, and I have played in settings ranging from Lucas Oil Stadium to IU's very own Recital Hall. Through this program, I had the opportunity to go back to my old elementary school and mentor trumpet students one on one.
