Instruments: Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, French Horn, Tuba, English Horn

For the newest of players who may also be children, I usually begin teaching out of The Yamaha Advantage series for beginners. Once the student has demonstrated a strong understanding of the fundamentals of brass playing, I will begin introducing them to different solos, scales, and other repertoire in the hopes that they may want to perform in competition or recital. For more advanced players, I try to find out what the student's specific goals are, and work with them to best achieve said goals. Read More

Instruments: Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, French Horn, Tuba, Music

It's my goal to meet a student where they are, and maintain a big-picture mentality. I like to know what other interests they have so that I can draw parallels between those and music. Instruments: Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, French Horn, Tuba

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students develop a passion for the trumpet and music. Therefore, it is very important to me that I make the lessons both fun and productive for the students. I will gear my teaching style to whatever works best for the individual student. If the student wants to be pushed hard then I can do that or if they just want to have fun and play music, I am fine with that too. Read More

Instruments: Piano, Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone, Clarinet

Age-friendly materials are my favorite to use. For very young pianists I often buy books with lots of color and large print like Kjos's Piano Party. Kjos and Alfred are two of my favorite publishers, but I am willing to work with materials your family may already own. Flashcards are an important tool for many children to become fluent at naming/reading notes. I also like to have students complete written theory assignments, and, to help students from getting bored, I often "reward" them with single pieces of fun sheet music that can be performed for recitals and competitions. Since then I have been teaching students of all ages and levels. Since earning my degree I have performed on stages across the country in pit orchestras, bands, choirs, opera performances and as a solo artist on various instruments including the voice. I am an active musician and am constantly exploring new music to teach and share with my students. Read More
