Part of my lesson times include teaching how to practice. However, I will always find a way to make the most out of an opportunity with a student. I'd rather spend time helping them learn how to express themselves with freedom and skill. When learning a specific task or skill, I use modeling in my teaching style. I will give examples the student examples they can imitate; however, I firmly believe that students should not just imitate but they should bring their own light to their music! Read More

I also teach ear training where I'll play something and then have the students play it back to me. I think it's essential to not only learn to read music, but to play by ear, AND improvise! Read More
