Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I believe students need to have a strong understanding of theory reading notes as they are the foundation to learning any type/style of music. I break down the overall goal to a small step that is doable for the student. I am nice and patient with students, meanwhile, I insist on they accomplishing my instruction. It is fine if it takes several tries, but most importantly is that they had to try. Practicing is a way to learn from the mistake and how to avoid it. For younger children, my methods involve using the Alfred series as the staple of the course, but I also incorporate games and some other things into the lesson to make it fun. For intermediate and Advanced students, it is a completely customized lesson plan to the individual so I can't really say what direction we take before I have had the chance to sit down and analyze their individual needs.
