I teach lessons to any grade/age group. I have an extremely open mind to teaching and music in general, so nothing goes out the door in terms of philosophy, however, I've come to realize that some methods work better than others. That said, I tailor my attention and focus as an educator to the needs of student I'm teaching in front of me. I don't consider the student who just walked out of the lesson or the student who is coming in next. Read More

I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and exploring music together. I graduated from Soai University in Osaka in 2016. I had been developing my career as a freelance musician since I graduated and gained various professional musical experience including playing with Osaka Philharmonic and Okayama Philharmonic. In 2021, I came to U.S., and I just earned my Master's Degree in Orchestra Studies at the Chicago College of Performing Arts, where I studied the clarinet under Prof. Read More

Throughout my music career, I had amazing teachers that helped me grow as a musician. I have taken the best of these experiences to help me become a better teacher. I strive to create a passion for music through learning, positive reinforcement and by creating an environment that is nurturing. While I believe in structure, discipline and hard work, I also want my learning environment to be fun. Building a strong foundation in music theory is important, but finding and unleashing the students passion for music is just as important. Read More

Nothing makes me happier than watching a student progress and develop a passion for music. Therefore I think its important to let students grow and develop at their own pace. Setting realistc goals, acknowleging accomplishments, and challenging a student helps fuel their passion and increase their confidence! If a student has passion and confidence, tailoring lessons to their specific needs is easy! Read More

My goal is to hear that students dont even realize how much theyre practicing throughout the week because theyre enjoying it so much! I always encourage 5 minutes a day to startthat time will usually increase naturally. I take time to get to know my students because I love to incorporate their other interests into the lessons to help keep them engaged. As a lifelong learner myself, I always encourage this quality because I believe that allowing yourself to be a beginner at something new all the time really fosters all-around success! Read More

I typically begin by teaching students how to visiually identify the keys on the piano, as well as notes on sheet music. Then I like to begin to work on finger shape when playing, as well as basic scales. As we continue practicing with the fundamentals, I like to pick simple identifiable songs for students to move into next. Easily recognizable melodies make the learning process easier, more attainable to the student, and fun! Read More

For 5 to 6 year old beginners, I create an individualized lesson plan based on observing the student's learning style, strengths and weaknesses as well as personality. For the first 4 or more lessons, this includes my own big-note, large-symbol work sheets and simple songs. Next, and with older or more advanced students, I use a combination of lesson, technique and performance method books (Faber, Bastien, Hal Leonard), a scale/chording book and adjunct material consisting of songs the student wants to learn such as pop/rock, movie themes, holiday and theme music, and classical, to maintain interest and enjoyment. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
