I am a New York City based songwriter, artist, arranger, producer, and educator, most often occupying the space between R&B and Jazz. My music is influenced by artists ranging from Stevie Wonder to Erykah Badu to John Coltrane. I went to Boston in 2015 to study Musical Theatre at the Boston Conservatory. Later I realized that teaching was also helpful to me, as it helped me in my daily practice. I like teaching kids, especially when they discover jazz improvisation. I try to build upon what the students goal is while training them to practice consciously and with a purpose not just playing the music over and over and accomplishing nothing. I try to engage the student aurally and not only from the method book alone. This method encourages to make decisions on their own without being instructed to do so. I have been teaching privately since 2009. This included adult beginners, students ages 3-17, and college music majors taking a minor in piano. During my work at the Harlem School of the Arts - I have taught individual lessons and group classes for all age-groups. This also includes online lessons. While most of my students take piano for personal enjoyment, I have also prepared students for successful auditions at the Harlem School of the Arts (NYC), The Juilliard School (precollege and college) as well as the Manhattan School of Music.
