I've taught everyone from pre-teens to retirees and have done my best to instill a sense of discipline and an understanding of the role of both instruments in the rhythm section. For the beginner who is 11 or younger, I start with John Thompson's Piano Courses to make sure the student familiar with all necessary elements of music. Then I will introduce some music that helps developing fingers appropriately and beautiful at the same time, such as Lemoine and Burgnlueller. I have taught a heavy schedule of students most of my adult life. For the years between 1995 and 2001 my touring schedule as a road musician prevented me from teaching. Since returning in '02 until covid shut us down I averaged 80 private students a week. I started teaching at a small music store in Hollywood, Florida called The Banjo Shop. As the store specialized in Bluegrass music, I was hired to teach students the pop and rock songs being played at that time. I taught there for three years before relocating to North East Ohio. After taking some years off to raise a family I started teaching at GitterPicker String Factory in Twinsburg in 2005.
