I have been teaching since around 2011, after only have been playing guitar for 2 years. I learned very quickly , primarily playing metal and jazz. I played trumpet in band when I was a child, so this helped me learn to sight-read music on guitar. This allowed me to play in the university bands at both schools I attended, mainly playing jazz music. Beginner students and I generally start our lessons with Mel Bays Guitar Method 1 and Intermediate to Advanced students and I start with William Levitts Modern Method for Guitar Vol. 2. When students have mastered the fundamentals of their specific lessons I work with them on songs of their choosing and we put those fundamentals into practice. I work with each student in regard to his/her own singing goals- whether they be for therapy reasons, recreational/hobby, academic/school, or professional reasons. I customize lessons to include these goals and to work with the singer's strengths and weaknesses. Every lesson includes vocal warm-ups that are tailored to each singer's individual voice and gifts. Repertoire is aimed at satisfying and expanding these goals.
