As a drummer that has played in all kinds of styles and venues, I can teach any skill level from the first time picking up sticks to making good drummers great and great drummers legendary. Using my experience as a school band director (4 years), I am also able to teach concert band instruments (trumpet, flute, trombone, etc.) as well as Jazz ensemble instruments (drum set, electric bass). In the short time I have been with my current school, we have been awarded 3 awards: one for best in class, one for superior rating, and one band of distinction. Read More

I have been a music instructor for 13 years now. I have taught different categories of students ranging from 2-65 years old. I started off as a classical teacher for a church choir, in which i taught for 7 years. My students find listening and playing their musical instrument very enjoyable, where personal practice becomes interesting and looked forward to. My students are driven by the joy of the learning process and this has been a reason they improved at a great pace! Read More

No two students are alike. Because of this fact, no two learning plans are equal. While the easy answer is, "We'll begin with the fundamentals," the more puzzling question and answer is, "How can I apply fundamentals in a meaningful way to the student to ensure that they stay engaged, interested, and focused?" Some students perform well while having the book thrown at them; others do not. My method for beginning students is to pierce the veil of HOW they learn before moving on to which fundamentals to apply, and how to apply them. Read More

I have over twenty years experience teaching music students of all ages. I started teaching music students in 1986 at a Jr. High/High School and prepared all choral students for both solo and ensemble festivals and large group competitions. I also prepared vocal jazz ensembles, and other larger instrumental and vocal ensembles for competition, thoroughly enjoying the sharing of their talents and pulling out the best music they had to offer. With each and every one of my students, I try to help them appreciate the music they are playing. I always try to emphasize practicing everyday, paying attention to the rhythm, and sight reading the music. I also make sure to tailor to the student's needs. A comfortable setting is established for them so that they may not feel stressed out and that I am there to always help them out. Read More

I'm a teacher at heart and I always have something new and exciting to give to others in the form of information or skill. I've been teaching professionally for over 10 years and I love every single minute of it. I have worked in two Texas Independent School Districts and I have worked with a wide variety of age groups and subjects, not just music. I occasionally play live shows on the weekends with my band and I can play four other instruments besides the guitar. Read More

I only want my students to have a positive experience when leaving our lesson. I am constantly letting them know what they've done well, along with what goals we need to work on. I focus on the sandwich method, which is one positive trait, something to work on, then another positive trait. Everyone is different, so their learning pace is different as well. I do expect them to put at least some effort in at home via practicing (although I know things come up sometimes), otherwise it would be hard to find progress when they haven't practiced what we were working on.
