Dr. Gill had just returned from an amazing study abroad with Trevor Wye and his studio, and was able to offer cutting edge techniques. I strongly believe referencing pop and youth culture can help build techniques that are clear and understandable to my students. In my experience, but is no surprise, I've seen that children learn in different ways. Flexibility within ones teaching style is necessary to help develop the young singer. I encourage creativity, understanding and fun. Method or style technique used will always depend on the preference and requirements of the student. It will also depend on the style of music. For example, classical guitar requires perfection of technique for good execution. This requires practice of scales, arpeggios and such.
