I've been teaching steady for 6 years now at All about music and arts. I've had several students through the years; young and older. From students who are new to music (starting from zero). Some who been playing for years and who wants to expand or understand how music theory can benefit them. I know that that the concept of theory may seems daunting and difficult. However I find it really depends on how you explain it. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Synthesizer Keyboard
I have been offering group and private piano classes specialized in teaching beginners(both children and adults) using Mayron Cole's Piano Method for 10+ years in my home studio. I started first by teaching kindermusik for babies and toddlers in a neighborhood church location and a music studio in the Copperfield area, then I opened my home studio in 2004 by offering group keyboarding lessons for many young beginners. Motivating students to progress and gain a passion for using their voice and learning the instrument as music lovers is my life long passion. Read More
Instruments: Piano Trombone Euphonium Tuba Keyboard
With my wind instrument and percussion students, I like to start with a method book. My favorites include Essential Elements and Standard of Excellence. I find that, especially for younger students, this is a great way to introduce beginner theory while learning to apply it to their playing. I spend a great deal of time discussing the importance of breath and practicing breathing gym exercises. My piano method book of choice varies depending on the skill level of the student. Read More
Instruments: Voice Violin Viola Fiddle
My teaching style is very patient and encouraging and I can tailor my lesson plans to suit each individual student. Although building technique and comfort are extremely important, I find that the most essential aspect of learning an instrument is to study the music that you love, and I'm definitely open to adding a bit of musical theory to every lesson if the student is interested. While the student is learning the basics, I also add pieces in different genres to the student's repertoire so that he or she can develop early familiarity with a variety of styles. Read More
