It is vital to show every student how talented they are. I set students up for success by giving them goals that are objective, acheivable, and flexible. Once the student has a solid understanding of the fundamentals a regimine of solos and etudes will be assigned, followed by the standard solo repertoire. For bass and guitar students I have my own method book that focuses on music theory, technique, as well as improvisation. For beginng students i like to start with Hal Lenords guitar 1 book and progress from there. I like to start kids with reading notation and little melodies cause it will help them in the long run. I have always enjoyed teaching others. Even in high school, I consistently helped my peers with their learning and enjoyed helping them learn how to play percussion instruments. After starting college in 2009, I began formally teaching percussion privately and in groups at high schools in my area. I have since expanded to teaching guitar, bass guitar, and composition, incorporating compositional elements into all of my lessons. I have been performing since age 7 playing classical piano in recitals with my sister. I got my first guitar at the age of 12. At 15 I was playing around town with different bands. After years of playing in garage bands, I applied to Wayne State University and enrolled in their music department.
