I like to give scales and a practical theory lesson each week, then transcribe a song for the student to learn that relates to the weeks lesson. They are here because they want to be shown. The last thing I want for my students is to feel burdened by bookwork while learning the guitar. For a typical beginner, I will first teach posture and note identification followed by basic warm-ups. Once the basics are taught, the student will be allowed more flexibility in the repertoire and specific skills he/she wants to learn.
