I was interested in teaching from a young age; I loved to play school with my friends. I started tutoring in high school, as well as teaching private flute lessons. I have taught private lessons since 2017 and have loved every moment of it, both with beginners and with more advanced high school students. I began working as a marching band technician in 2021 and have since worked for numerous schools. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for the fine arts! Therefore, it’s important that each student progresses at his or her own pace, I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a student’s desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. A method I use to encourage my student’s progress is to give them stars for when they work on their assignment; the stars they earn will allow the student to choose a song of their choice that is not from the same genre being studied—this may be a pop song. I have for several years worked with Middle and High School Students throughout the Corpus Christi area. I have worked with beginner and intermediate bassoon students, beginner, intermediate and advanced flute students. I have a great deal of experience working with theatres and teaching vocals to musical theatre actors. For the past 10 years I have worked extensively with choirs. I wont be asking a student to, all of the sudden, begin some vigorous practice routine of 20 hours a week. But I will be working with them to establish a routine that will work in their favor as a musician. I like to let students come to their own conclusions about things I like to just show a student the way.
