For beginners, I like to start with the Rubank method books, which progress pretty rapidly. I also focus on tone production and scales as we move along at the level of the individual student. I gauge the speed at which we move based on the student in question, and prepare a practice routine for each student based on how much time they have to practice each day. I continued my flute studio and became a band director in 2000 and taught band in North and South Carolina until 2014. I worked on my masters degree in music eduation from the University of North Carolia at Pembroke and received 18 hours graduate credit.
