Throughout the years I have taught in person, online, have led flute choirs, and have been a clinician for woodwind sections for bands and orchestras. My teaching is very student-driven. I try to keep the students interests as a primary goal in keeping their interest level and so that they can progress in a musical situation. When they are interested in what they are learning, they strive for success. I try to acknowledge their successes and accomplishments which helps keep them learning and wanting to learn more. The best way to learn music is to teach it effectively, and I ALWAYS am learning from my students in a variety of ways, whether it be a new group that I'm not familiar with, or another style or genre that is new and fresh. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! I find that learning and memorizing songs and simple repertoire is an effective way for beginning and intermediate students to advance, and that following students interest goes a long way for the learning process! These performances include recital halls, banquet halls, school auditoriums, night clubs, bars, restaurants, weddings, parties, church ceremonies, community theater and parades. As I have moved to New Jersey, I have taken on my own private studio. I have students ranging in ages 4-50+.
