I am largely a self-taught player. I play for 1-3 hours each day, honing my skills and feel. I dont teach reading, although I use basic notation for exercises and grooves. I have played in numerous musical situations, from jazz to rock, blues, country and even Cabaret, both on the East Coast and in the Bay Area. He was Music Program Director at Mission Hills Middle School, in Union City, for 3 years. He was also the guitar and percussion teacher at St. Paul’s Episcopal School in Oakland. Jake has also been a music instructor with COVA, Art and Soul Music Studios, Hayward Music Center and ALMA. I approach teaching in a way that encourages students to learn at a pace that's comfortable for them. Since the lessons are one -on-one, there is no need to keep up with a herd like you're in school. 2004-2007 marched world championships in WGI with Black Knights and Pulse Percussion 2006 Marched the Rose Parade as a tenor drummer. 2015 - Awarded a plaque from Los Angeles City Counsel for teaching Madison Middle School, becoming State Champs. 2016-2018 Taught Madison Middle School drumline and got them to be 4-peat State Champs.
