I like to divide lessons into four main parts which can be very flexible to accommodate a specific area of development. These four parts include clarinet fundamentals, rhythmic studies, scales studies, and musical selections. For a beginning student (2 or less years of experience), a typical lesson would included basic clarinet fundamentals (how to play the clarinet correctly), and appropriate rhythmic studies which will compliment selected music from the Standard of Excellence book series that interests the student. I have been teaching clarinet since 2013. I love teaching all ages, including adults! Music making is a lifelong joy. My K-12 students in the past have been accepted to performing arts high schools, college music programs, All-State bands, All-County bands, youth orchestras, and earned superior ratings at Solo & Ensemble festivals. I will guide them through what the book cannot explain and help them truly internalize aspects of playing their instrument. For more advanced players, we will work on tone, advanced technique, new styles as well as history, modern practices and more.
