I'm a professional and motivated instructor who just graduated from UT Austin and would love to share music with whoever wants to learn. It has been 16 years for playing cello and orchestra whether in school and outside of school, and also for teaching experience. For beginning students, I focus primarily on good sitting posture, both with and without the cello. We then focus on developing left-hand shape and function, before learning basic scales and tunes. Through consistent reinforcement, encouragement, and exercises, I help my students to build the solid technical foundation necessary to develop mastery of the instrument. I primarily use the Suzuki cello books, the Schroeder etudes, and the Starker method, however, I frequently make arrangements of popular tunes for students if that is what they are interested in playing. Especially on piano and keyboards, I have found that combining classical music and learning from books with learning music that students enjoy listening to on their own can revolutionize how students learn and enjoy their instrument. I also work with my students to learn their instrument and the necessary music theory concepts by writing their own melodies and small songs, so that students can feel creative while learning another method of processing the world around them. Hello! I'm a life-long cellist with solo, ensemble, and orchestral experience. I graduated from Indiana University in 2007 with majors in cello performance and journalism. Over the course of my musical career, I have performed with the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra, the All-Northwest Orchestra, the Interlochen World Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Indiana University Orchestra, the Henderson Symphony Orchestra, and the Denver Philharmonic.
