I began teaching years ago and have pursued it off and on over the years. I have taught in students homes as well as my own home. I encourage everyone to try to learn an instrument as an outlet for creativity. Practice is as deep as you want to make it, but if you are looking for serious improvement and development I suggest at least 30-60 min a day. However, any amount of playing and practicing is encouraged! Read More

My beginning students are prepared and encouraged to jam with others as soon as possible, as I feel that this is where true music education happens. I have successfully prepared students for college auditions, as well as provided those looking for a way to enrich themselves with a new skill a clear path to reaching their goals. I truly love the process of teaching and thoroughly enjoy fostering moments of discovery in my students! Read More

My teaching style feels relaxed but I work hard to keep students in their least restrictive environment. We dont want the student to be too challenged or bored. For this reason I am flexible with the content we work on and the order in which we complete different parts of the lesson. I give a lot of choice to students, maybe one day they want to start with working on some improvisation and want to work on their assigned pieces the 2nd half of the lesson. Read More

Since then, I have taught all age ranges of students, from age five onwards, both in person and online. My experience ranges from academic institutions such as The Ohio State University and Capital University, to workshops, lectures, and master classes.I set three primary goals for my teaching: to educate, challenge, and inspire students. The material I teach covers scales, chords, and music theory. We can practice a variety of exercises that help improve your rhythm and dexterity. In order to tie everything together, I think it is important to play music with each other and along with recorded music as an example. Admittedly, the content of scales, chords, and music theory in itself can be dry. This is why I tend to customize how to practice something like a pentatonic minor scale. Read More
