For Voice I cater my teaching to the student's goals and aspirations. The first 10-15 minutes of a lessons are spent doing vocal warmups and sightsinging exercises. The remaining time is spent working on repertoire that the student and myself choose together. For Piano I work out of the Faber Piano Adventure Books. I will absolutely curate an individual approach to each student's skill level and experience, but all of my lessons will share the same core values. Sight singing, aural skills, music theory, and efficient practice techniques will all be at the forefront. I will use a combination of sight singing exercise books and real literature to help my students fine-tune their choral singing skills at an individual level. My student load for teaching was quite large right off the bat, but I found out quickly that it was absolutely wonderful to teach so many different kinds of singers! The students I teach at the college are mostly Theater Arts majors, but all of them enjoy learning a basis in classical technique. This is to ensure that the baseline technique is there as they find how their instrument, the voice, is growing into their developing selves.
