I get a thrill when I can see one of my student's develop a passion for music. It is fulfilling to see them understand the fundamentals of jazz and to know where the music comes from. I like to give a brief history of the style and song to develop an emotional connection with the music being played. I love teaching students privately one on one. My youngest student was 4; a Piano student. She was from a Russian family and didn’t speak a word of English. Teaching her was a joint effort between myself and the girl’s mother who did speak English; a very interesting experience. My oldest student was 86; a Guitar student. He had studied previously with another instructor and loved to play.
