I am always conscious of myself to aim to be fun, understanding, and motivating. As long as my student is motivated to learn I could not care less if they were the worst player on the planet; I will endure thick and thin to guide them to success. The motivation to become better and to strive for excellence is what I look for in my students. I was selected as lead trumpet at both the University of Hampton Summer Band Camp and the Berklee School of Music Summer Jazz Camp. In 2009, I was selected as lead trumpet to represent the East Coast Historically Black Colleges and Universities at the International Association for Jazz Education Convention in New York City, NY. A very important aspect to my enjoyment of all of these pursuits is the degree to which they actually connect and overlap with many other topics and disciplines- science, mathematics, visual art, language and sociology all intersect with music at one point or another.
