Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

During my college days, I had the opportunity to study under multiple piano teachers, as well as observe music teachers around Durham county. During my senior year, I had the opportunity to student teach at Durham School of the Arts. I taught in the piano lab, which included six piano classes, each filled with 12-24 students. In college have had the opportunity to work as a music instructor to a studio with over 20 students on a weekly basis. The students ranged in age from 5 to 70. This gave me a good perspective on how to directly connect with each student to ensure that we are exploring the best concept of learning for the individual. I started as a very motivated child in the 2 nd grade and became a student of a famous professional performer. I loved Music and the Piano, studied violin, cello, and double bass. I performed often in local concerts, theatre, and went on a tour around the State of Michigan, during High School. I was accepted as a protege at a University when I was 16; Michigan State University. I studied Music Theory Composition and began having my own compositions played by area musicians. Read More

I'm trying to put each student in touch with their inner creative. Everyone learns at a different pace and my approach is to teach something to mastery level rather than fill a quota. Inspiration and the joy of playing is first and foremost with my approach. By breaking difficult passages down into digestable pieces and making attainable goals, I find this keeps the student interested and builds confidence to overcome weaknesses. Read More

I always strive to motivate my students based on their unique goals. I usually require a weekly practice sheet. The practice sheet has no specific amount of time required but simply acknowledgment that there was some practice on each day that is checked by the student. If they practice a certain amount each month then they will get a prize unique to the student, like a toy or candy of sorts. Read More
