My teaching experience dates back to my early ministry days. I begin teaching private lessons part time while I was a music instructor at a charter school and full time ministry leading choir. Many of my students have gone on the collage with a music scholarship and are now leading full time in churches. I found that teaching students to study the style of music they are playing will go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

I've performed in bands on stage since the age of 16, and have written music for several bands, often as the primary singer, songwriter and front man. Presently I play bass in the death metal band Heretical Sect, who have been featured in Decibel magazine, but my interests in music lie within a spectrum of folk, classical, metal and rock. As a teacher and tutor I engage my students on their level, and find goals within their reach to keep them amped and eager to learn in a multifaceted context of composition, technical skill and performance.  Read More

Highlights of my teaching career include teaching at The L.A. Conservatory of Music and Eubanks Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, and presidency of the Music Teachers Association of California, San Fernando East Valley. My teaching experience started in the YMCA, my church worship band, with friends and friend's kids and evolved into private lessons with friends of friends via word of mouth. I have taught over 50 students in 10 years. All great students but I know 12 who have gone on to play music professionally in solo work, bands, movies and TV. I have performed Folk, Mariachi, Gospel, Christian, Electronica and Classical music all over the country in bands and in my own solo work. Read More

I am very positive about teaching my students. I have the knowledge to teach about the theory, technique and flow of the music up through the intermediate level. I don't necessarily stay with the music until it is perfect, because as the student learns more they can always come back to it and play it better. I do encourage my students to perform pieces they are doing well with, it's always fun to play for a small group and share each others gifts. Read More
