While at Crane, I doubled on flute and oboe and frequently played piccolo and English horn for concerts as well. I was originally in music education and have that background as well. I teach the basics first. I show my student how to hold the bow and the violin in detail. I explain that it will be awkward to hold the bow in correct position because it is unusual for person to hold the right hand that way. After several days of practice, this bow hold will become more natural to the student. Holding the violin in the proper position is also important in order to be able to play music. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my high school days, as I began to teach private lessons part time 10 years ago, and have consistently teaching students in my home studios for the last 8 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. When you play something you love, it is no longer the black notes and lines on the page, but becomes so much more when it comes from your heart.
