I'm a passionate musician and teacher and would love to be your instructor! My love and experience is primarily in guitar, voice, and piano. I graduated from Gordon college in 2008 with a degree in music education and taught K-8 grade for several years, which included directing children's choirs, teaching private lessons, and teaching general music to many ages. Teaching keyboard and singing was a highlight in the classroom setting. After a few years of teaching I became a mom and have transitioned from full time teaching to raise my three girls. Read More

I use Standard of Excellence books with my students and I look for appropriate repertoire for the clarinet and saxophone. I choose music that is at the proper level for the student I am teaching. Read More

I started teaching after graduating from Berklee College of Music in 1980. I've been playing since I was 12 years old and love what I do! If a student has never played, I can teach them the foundational techniques to accomplish all they want to learn and stay motivated to play. I teach students of all ages and use a range of many styles. Read More

For beginning students I prefer to use either Alfred's, Mel Bay, or Hal Leonard method books. I generally stay away from method books that use guitar tablature because I find that student will prefer to read the tablature instead of standard musical notation. Tablature is a good way to easily show how guitar parts are played, but is not useful when teaching standard notation, music theory, harmony, etc. In addition to using a method book, I will also teach the student popular songs, which is a great way to start teaching chords and song structure in addition to keeping the lesson fun and the student engaged. I listen to what the student has to say, and also hone in on where they are currently in their musicianship. This allows me to really see what areas need to be focused on specifically. I strongly encourage students to push themselves and will often provide slightly more challenging material to help them improve. One of the most rewarding moments is seeing a concept/idea click with a student. The lightbulb moment is absolutely inspiring, not just for students, but for everybody else involved as well. I started out teaching "house call" style lessons, driving ALL over the area, just to gain students and experience! This was while attending graduate study for Music Education as well. Once I built up a good following, mostly via word-of-mouth, I was able to teach both out of my home (upon purchasing my baby grand piano which is currently in my studio today), and then moving into a shared studio space. Every lesson is wrapped up with an obtainable goal for the next week.  This will entirely depend on the student's level and individual goals for the instrument. Everyone has the end product in mind when it comes to learning an instrument.  When someone picks up a Guitar, the learning process is not the first thing they think of: they think of the stage and sounding like their heroes. I'm here to remind all my students that there should never be an end; music is a never ending journey! Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
