My teaching experience dates back to my high school days, as I began teaching private lessons while being a section leader for band, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio ever since. I tell all my students, "A little a day goes a longs way," to remind them the benefits of keeping up with consistency with their craft to see results in their progress. With an intense focus on character study, I've performed lecture recitals and partial roles of Baby Doe (The Ballad of Baby Doe), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Blondchen (Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail) and Musetta (La Boheme). I've performed these roles and in concert at stages like Carnegie Hall, The Kimmel Center, NJ PAC, Provincetown Playhouse, Frederick Loewe Theater, MPAC and Roxbury PAC. I use different method books, depending on the student's age and past experience (if any). I particularly like the Alfred methods, but I supplement this with solo books and duets. For duets, I like the Alfred Learn to Play Duets, but also the Selected Duets (Rubank) series. I think it's very important for any student to play solos with piano and once students know a few notes, there are really nice pieces they can do. Read More
