I ask all of my students to be prepared for their lessons with a notebook and pencil for lesson notes and assignments. I ask them to bring any materials they have and will often recommend books and supplemental material I have had success with. For beginners, I usually work with the beginning band books that are established by the public schools they attend. If they arent in band yet, then I would start them on the Rubank Elementary Methods book for Bb clarinet. The Rubank methods are my go to for all levels, beginner, intermediate, and advanced. For intermediate students, I also use the Melodious and Progressive Students and for advanced students, I work out of the Rose 32 etudes and 40 studies. Read More
