During my first meeting with a new student I ask them questions about their prior experiences, current knowledge, and musical aspirations. From there I tailor a unique learning strategy geared towards their goals, personality, and aptitude. I always try to use music that the student enjoys to spotlight the concept we are covering, and encourage the student to think about it while they listen to their favorite songs. I try to get to know the students as best as I can. I will ask them about their interests in music and outside of music. I also will learn what their weaknesses and strengths are and push them to improve all around. I have a pretty laid back style of teaching. My goal to encourage them, rather than make them feel bad or frustrated. I will simply tell them if they are sounding good, or I will tell them what they can do to sound better. Read More
