I am a life-long musician [age 5 - present] from a family of musicians who have played with everyone from Fanny Brice (my grandfather) to Benny Goodman (my mother) to Steve Miller (myself). I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston , MA from 1975-1979 and left (5 weeks short of my degree) to perform in a rock band who toured for 5 years in the US and Canada. Having played everywhere from Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Colorado to Elkhorn Resort in Sun Valley, Idaho to Valdez, Alaska to Cobo Hall in Detroit,Michigan, I have lengthy performance credentials and even more varied experience in the styles and situations that I have performed in that include: rock band, orchestra, concert band, jazz combo, folk duo, Big Band, marching band, drum corps, celtic rock band, traditonal gaelic ceili, flute choir, pit band, church choir, chorus, show choir, vocal solo, commercial voice-overs, vocal duet, musical theatre, etc. Read More

My teaching experience includes working as Skills Instructor at a day program for adults with disabilities. There, I taught dance classes and sing alongs, meditation groups, cooking groups general life skills. I have also lead music in nursing homes for patients with dementia/Alzheimers. I have traveled throughout high school and college, along the east coast, to perform with choirs at churches, schools, and public events. I plan to design a curriculum that encourages students to be creative express themselves. Read More

I believe it is important to help students gain a multidimensional understanding of voice as a communication tool, a sacred instrument, and a healing arts science, etc.  My work has evolved into a student-centered practice mixed with the ability to maintain a rigid curriculum structure and/or embrace the freedom of an open approach to musical exploration.  My method is eclectic, and ranges from the use of popular voice instruction standards, to creating customized curriculum designed to support each student’s individual learning goals and objectives. In the first lesson, I like to find out about my student's goals. Regular lessons usually consist of reviewing exercises, etudes, and songs that were assigned from the previous lesson and then making adjustments as needed. The goal is to develop technique as well as overall musicianship so that every piece of music is played or sung well and beautifully. Singing is a difficult skill to teach. Our instrument is internal and is affected by our emotions, stress level, how much sleep we've had, even what we ate for breakfast! Because of this, I feel it is important to maintain a comfortable environment. I encourage my students to let go of their self-doubt and allow themselves to make mistakes. Although I keep lessons friendly, warm, and encouraging, I expect students to work hard and take their lessons seriously. Read More
