I have taught privately for over five years. Starting in college, I taught several students on violin before making piano my primary instrument. Since graduating from college, I have continued with my private studio in additional to expanding my work with local public schools and youth choirs. I have experience coaching students for college auditions and solo ensemble at the local and state level. As a soloist and chamber musician, I am regularly playing concerts around the world, in countries like Germany, France, Luxembourg, Spain, Austria, Czech Republic, Russia, Lithuania and of course throughout the US. Being able to share my love for music as well as my knowledge and experience through teaching others means a lot to me and I am very passionate about it. I have been teaching since 1984 and now I teach from my home studio. I am not trying to make my students the best in the world but I want them to love music. My students have accomplished many goals. They have all had the chance to perform in recitals. Some have won scholarships to private schools and colleges, gotten to perform at Disney World to record music for a movie soundtrack and have won top music awards from their high school graduations. When learning a new craft it is never a race or competition. Staring slow and steady helps the student develop a sense of consistency, diligence, and discipline in the craft, that can carry them through to becoming an advanced player. Learning a new instrument can be frustrating and disheartening when practice is not routine, so I teach a routine that gives the student structure and focus to be efficient in their time with me, and then their time in individual practice.
