There were only a handfull of students to whom I taught for two weeks in the summer. The program has grown tremendously since then; now offering lessons in piano, voice, bass, cello, viola and violin. I am now teaching a three week intensive as an extension of this program twice a year. My studio has grown to about 40 students, most of which are returning students each time. For young beginners, I encourage lots of participation from parents because it helps children feel supportive and it is always nice to see how much they grow. I began my teaching career in 2014. I was involved in a program where I worked under established teachers and observed them teach. I then took over their classes and received feedback and guidance from them. Since moving to Chicago in 2017, I have worked with a music school and taught private lessons as well as group lessons in Chicago Public Schools. I am trained in the Suzuki method and heavily rely on that in my teaching. Read More

My first teaching experience dates back to High School when I had the opportunity to coach elementary orchestra students. As a student at University of Colorado at Boulder and DePaul University, I completed String Pedagogy courses which covered all the different elements of teaching from how to manage a private studio to instructing your students. My teaching experience began when I arrived in San Franciso about 15 years ago. It has developed from a part time side job at that time, to an established and integral part of my life and career. As my musical career and experience have grown, so too has my passsion for teaching. And for the last 5 years, I have been teaching ESL in Indonesia, while continuing my musical tutoring, and this has helped me incredibly in relating to students' needs, as well as in recognizing the role of a student's background and environment in their learning process.
