I am an outgoing, creative, and passionate individual seeking to advance and utilize the arts, education, and culture, mainly to ameliorate the issues facing disadvantaged communities. I am currently living and working in Boston. From 2020 to 2024 I taught general music with Open Door Art, an affiliate of the Seven Hills Foundation. Open Door Arts is a nonprofit organization which partners teaching artists with BPS (Boston Public Schools) to provide supplementary art educational programs for special need students. Read More

I am a passionate and inspired music instructor in trombone, music theory, composition, arranging and beginner level piano technique. I graduated with my Master's Degree in Jazz Performance at Berklee's Global Jazz Institute I believe that music is a manifestation of the complexities of the human condition and can act as a conduit of change and inspiration. Communication through music enables expression, provides comfort, enlightenment, hope and optimism. Our role as educators is to provide the venue for learning and create an atmosphere of all-inclusive inspirational thought provocation. Read More

All of my students follow more or less a similar path that deviates a bit once they have developed some. No matter the age I start all students off with building fundamentals of tone, flexibility, articulation, and range. I use a combination of exercises from David Vining, UNC's own Buddy Baker, and Emory Remington. While building fundamental playing skills I will have students begin playing etudes. Younger students will start in their band method books, but as time goes on they will transition into Rochut's Melodious etudes, and the Rubank method books. Read More

In the summer of 2022, he served as an artist fellow in the Atlantic Music Festival, giving varied performances in orchestral, chamber and solo settings. To fuse his dedication to performance with his interest in academic research, Tommy also presented a full lecture recital in the recent conference on cultural assimilation in music hosted by the University of Calgary. Furthermore, an equally devoted performer on the euphonium, he has been invited to play with the New England Brass Band and has been performing with the Boston University Wind Ensemble on an assistantship since 2021. For students beginning on any brass instrument, the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements is the go to for most music educators. I also try to find solo repertoire for students based on their age and level of experience. Performing as a soloist is just as important as being in an ensemble. The Rochut Legato Studies for trombone and Blahzevich Clef studies are also great tools for more advanced students. As for piano students, I try to determine what that student's musical interests are and tailor instruction to their particular level. Read More

Music has been my passion since grade school. I began teaching in the fall of 2006 and have engaged with students of all ages. I welcome the wide eyed enthusiastic child who can't wait to learn and perform, as well as the reluctant, but determined adult who just wants to play for fun or take on a new challenge. After attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston for 2 years, I joined Merrimack Valley's favorite local band the B. Read More

It depends on the age of the student, but there are plenty of method books and pieces that can both teach a student music theory and notation, as well as their performance skill. With beginners its perfect to start with the Rubank series from Beginner-Intermediate. Many students are given the "Standard of Excellence" series by their school teacher and that series works as well. I believe these books are a great start, but can get old fast. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
