My two philosophies for music are in learning and musicality. You're never too old, young, experienced, etc. to pick up an instrument. It takes time and dedication, and I expect my students to work hard, practice, and ask questions if they don't understand something. I also enjoy working with a variety of students because I learn how to teach things differently if someone doesn't understand. What I really enjoy is focusing on the music as opposed to learning the notes and rhythms. Read More

During lessons, I always have students work on some form of scale, sight-reading, and ear training. I have several duet books (and a Disney book!) that students love to sight-read from. Read More

While I am new to taking on private students of my own, I have had many opprtunities to teach groups and individuals in their studies. In high school I often volunteered with elementary and middle school students to work on band repetoire and fundamentals that would benefit them in their classes. I was also section leader throughout high school and was the principle saxophone in college, and would assist my fellow students in grasping diddicult sections and techniques. Read More
