For all beginners, I like to start with the very basics to establish good habits and knowledge that will put them ahead and benefit them throughout their musical careers. All students will begin by learning proper embouchure, finger positions, breathing techniques and air control. We will also begin every lessons with practicing long tones and major scales. I am a big fan of the Rubank elementary, intermediate, and advance methods. In addition I like incorporate sight reading into lessons due to being a common element in auditions. For high school students the I use Rubank books and supplement that with Rose etudes as they are often use as audition material in KY.
