I will ask the student for their goals and what they wish to accomplish by taking lessons. Once we establish a goal we can work on attaining that goal. During lessons I find it useful for students to learn some basic music theory as it helps understanding patterns that can be applied to the clarinet. I began my teaching experience in 2016, when I began work as a band camp instructor during my student teaching semester in college. Since then, I have served as a high school band director for three years before stepping away to pursue other musical opportunities. Despite leaving my position as a band director, I still remain active as an educator. I continue to work with several different programs in Kentucky and Ohio, where I teach clarinet lessons, marching band and drum corps, and jazz ensembles. Read More

While I was in the Marine Corps I would give lessons to students from different high schools when going on recruiting tours. The most important thing to me in teaching is to ensure that the student is learning and *enjoying* their instrument. Playing the saxophone has brought me so much personal joy and FUN and I want all of my students to have the same experience!
