I'm a dedicated music performer and teacher who enjoys helping fellow music students. I'm currently the 2nd trombonist with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and regular member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. I've performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Elgin Symphony, Canton Symphony, Quad City Symphony, Rockford Symphony, West Michigan Symphony, and Illinois Symphony Orchestra. Instilling a fundamental mastery of the instrument and musicianship is my top priority, no matter how long it may take. My approach to methods will vary depending on the student. For beginners, I like using the Robert Getchell books, in addition to the My First Arban, Essential Elements, and my own exercises. Intermediate/Advanced students will likely work from the Clarke, Arban, Vizzutti, Bai Lin, Belck, Rudd and Gekker books, in addition to other resources. Read More

For young beginning students, I really like to emphasize the fundamentals using whatever book the student uses for their band class. Once they get a good grasp on the fundamentals, then I start to introduce some solo repertoire appropriate to their skill level. For students who are older, I like to find out what area of the trumpet they want to improve on and structure our lessons to try and improve on those areas, as well as incorporate other fundamentals and solo repertoire. I try to make the lessons as fun as possible and geared towards what the student wants to learn. For all of my students, I stress the importance of fundamentals. Although I do use method books such as Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, I like to tailor warm ups and fundamentals to each of my students. Then, I like to incorporate the fundamentals into familiar songs and exercises to keep the lessons engaging and fun. I am an incredibly spirited and determined musician and educator who takes great joy in sharing music with as many people as I can. I am currently working on a BME from Indiana University, and while I still have a long way to go, I know full well in my ability to demonstrate my talent as a musician and educator. Performing all over the country has been one in a long list of wonderful and highly impact performances in my time as a musician, and I have played in settings ranging from Lucas Oil Stadium to IU's very own Recital Hall.
