My teaching experience dates as far back as my high school days, as I began giving lessons to 6th graders almost 6 years ago. Since then, I have taught and met with dozens of students, and helped them flourish as musicians, teaching both as a partner in local schools and out of my own home. My method depends on the student. Some need book work, some need to just be one with their instrument, and some need to listen and just admire some of the great players. I have a large amount of books I highly recommend of different techniques and musical challenges that I will often use, but I will also put the books away and work on the instrument itself. Every so often, I find it helpful to put the instrument away completely and to just listen to whatever great recording is out there, for listening is the best teacher. Read More
