I knew that I wanted to be a teacher before I ever touched a guitar. Growing up in a family of school teachers allowed me to see the broad spectrum of the educaGonal process, from designing lesson plans to filing report cards, and I quickly realized that a teacher doesn’t stop working when the bell rings. Teaching history out of a textbook is one thing...teaching a student to hear the color of an altered dominant chord is a totally different beast. Read More

I teach a relaxed, free style. I want my students to feel comfortable to move around the room. Our work in the studio is experimental. I am happy with whatever progress we make each week, as long as there is some progression. I particularly emphasize this point with my youngest voice students. All progression is a victory. I am passionate about what I teach because music teaches you a lot about yourself. Read More

I want to be encouraging and emphasize that mistakes are welcome to help us learn. As a person who struggles with performance anxiousness, I understand what it's like to balance emotional wellbeing and being a musician; I want to make it clear to my students that they don't perform to achieve perfection, rather to express themselves through music and share what they love with others.
