Beginner Violin/Viola/Cello/Double Bass- I typically start in a class method book like essential elements or something similar, and move out of that book into etude books with music that pairs well with them, before moving onto things that are more student chosen once they can play well enough to play things that they like. My other music delight is composition, and I have written scores for my own esemble group to perform at weddings and events while also selling some online. I also wrote an arrangement for a fellow music teacher's ensemble to perform for their spring concert. My true passion for music education began when I moved to Houston for graduate school. During my time there, I quickly had grown my studio to upwards of 15 students at local music schools, and would also lead sectionals for group cello lessons at middleschools and highschools nearby. I also work with and teach for a non-profit organization called Musicians for the World, which aims to bring quality virtual music education to vulnerable communities around the world; through this non-profit, I have some students from Kenya, Haiti, Peru, Belize, and Mexico! I have been teaching private lessons for the last 6 years and began teaching in the public school system in spring of 2022. This fall, I will be a long-term substitute orchestra teacher for North Allegheny School District. My education at Duquesne was entirely focused on music education. I took various courses in instrument methodology for brass, woodwind, and string instruments, and studied leading pedagogy practices from distinguished educators. I studied cello with PSO musician Adam Liu, and performed challenging works for solo cello in my studio as well as orchestral works with the full Duquesne Symphony Orchestra. Read More
