My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in various studios since then. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I am a violinist and string teacher originally from Augusta, Georgia. I've lived in Atlanta, Ga and Chattanooga, TN, and currently reside in Pittsburgh, Pa. As far back as I can remember, music has always been a huge part of my life, starting with my first exposure to music through records and the radio. For beginners I start with Friedrich Dotzauer "113 Cello Etudes" to form foundation and technique, After a good foundation, the intermediate level is with Friedrich Dotzauer Exercises for the cello Book 1 and book 2, at this point some repertoire will be introduced to the student as well as the style of repertoire piece that will be studied and practiced, the student will pick repertoire so it can be fun for both parties.
