I follow the American String Teachers Association's curriculum for orchestra education as a guideline for the skills and techniques that students must develop. The skills are developmentally sequenced and build upon one another like a stack of blocks. In each of my lessons, I assess what students know and what students could practice, and together, we remediate and master each skill or technique. I was a cello teacher for a long time in many programs in South America, so I taught different kind of ages and different levels. I want to encourage my students to enter competitions and recitals, as well on composing their own material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. Im alway looking to bring on new students of all ages. I continued to teach through college, when I also became a member of NAfME and the educational honors society of Kappa Delta Pi. As an undergraduate I studied music education, performed with cello in the orchestra, took composition studies and a world music class, and achieved an A for my senior recital performance on the piano. Graduating from Grove City College with a bachelor of music and a K-12 teachers certification, I have since been employed as a substitute teacher while continueing to provide private music lessons to students of all ages. It was there I discovered the joy of teaching and continued to seek out teaching opportunities. I have held several adjunct college positions and have also taught students between age 6-60.
