If you don't build a trustworthy relationship with your student and learn about who they are and what they like then, you will not have a successful turn out. I believe in only sticking with what the student is comfortable with learning. I will push and stretch them when it is needed, but I like to start by asking "what do you want to learn?" I am a passionate musician "from the womb". I've sang since I was 4-years-old and began official training in school at 11-years-old. I started playing the violin just the year before that. I graduated with a worship leadership degree free Visible Music College in Memphis, Tennessee in 2020. I began lessons for piano my senior year of high school, and I continued training for about 2 years during in college. I cover both the physical skill of creating a musical sound and building a song from its melodic and rhythmic core. In doing this both children and adults are tutored in proper positioning of their hands and bodies to create a comfortable and relaxed posture of playing. I cover a variety of notation methods including tabulature, staff notation and chordal diagrams. My teaching experience began in high school, as I began teaching children in a group setting. I worked at a children's educational summer camp where I instructed choirs and chorus singers for Musical Theater. During my time at OCU, I taught private voice lessons to students with diverse vocal goals. I have found that the best way to teach singing is to let your students sing! In college I tutored and did language exchange's for the German, Spanish, and French languages. All of these experiences allow me to feel confident enouagh to teach students of every background.
