I began teaching back in my sophomore year of high school when one of my friends wanted to learn how to play the piano. I gave them half hour lessons once a week and tailored my teaching to fit what techniques they wanted to learn. After that, I began branching out and teaching other friends, and eventually found myself helping out the middle school bands during my study hall. Now that I am in college, my own playing has improved and I have found new ways to connect and teach students whether that be in person, or by using technology such as skype. Read More

Age-friendly materials are my favorite to use. For very young pianists I often buy books with lots of color and large print like Kjos's Piano Party. Kjos and Alfred are two of my favorite publishers, but I am willing to work with materials your family may already own. I began teaching in my undergraduate at the Hartt School where I took two years of teaching pedagogy. From here, I was able to begin my own small teaching studio before I moved to Chicago. Some of my current students have won 1st place in their school solo competition, and have been accepted into Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. Read More

For the newest of players who may also be children, I usually begin teaching out of The Yamaha Advantage series for beginners. Once the student has demonstrated a strong understanding of the fundamentals of brass playing, I will begin introducing them to different solos, scales, and other repertoire in the hopes that they may want to perform in competition or recital. For more advanced players, I try to find out what the student's specific goals are, and work with them to best achieve said goals. Read More

I have fourteen years of teaching experience. I first began teaching in my early years of high school through my school’s music mentor program. Through this program, I had the opportunity to go back to my old elementary school and mentor trumpet students one on one. It was there that I fell in love with teaching because of how rewarding it is to see the next generation of musicians grow and how I can have a direct impact on their growth. Read More
