I'm offering both violin and viola lessons to all ages and levels, with an open-minded personal approach tailored to each student's individual interests, needs, and goals. I have a calm and patient personality and I will do my best to make sure that the student understands what and why they are asked to do a certain thing. I believe in the importance of creating a nurturing and respectful learning environment and that developing the student's own critical thinking through asking questions and self-reflecting is essential for their success. Hi, I’m Allyson and I am a passionate violin teacher! I have been teaching since highschool and have always loved sharing my knowledge of music with others. As I am still a student, I can relate to the mentality of learning a new skill and how difficult it can be. My goal with teaching is to cater to the students individual needs; everyone is unique and needs a different approach! Read More

I started teaching while in High School some 12 years ago. Gradually my studio has built up and is generally in the 20-30 student range, generally where I like it. Instead of showing others my love of music I get to instill it in my students. Read More

My teaching method will be largely based on what you want to accomplish as a musician. My students taking the classical route will become familiar with the Suzuki Method books. I like to supplement this with etudes, folk tunes, and something of personal interest to you (pop music, world music, video game, etc.) If you are more interested in a fiddle/bluegrass approach, I will start you on the O'Connor Method books for violin/viola.
