Typically when I begin with children I incorporate the Hoffman Method and Books such as the Little Mozarts books, Alfred, Faber and Master Theory. I allow for children to learn fundamentals in a fun way so they can begin to read music and perform if they are interested. Students get to learn the basics like Mary had a little lamb, hot cross buns, jingle bells, and other fun tunes. As a lifelong band kid, I have a passion for sharing music with anyone who is willing to learn. In May 2017, I graduated from Mercer University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education. I experienced teaching all levels (K-12) during my time at Mercer; however, I completed my student teaching as a general music teacher at Porter Elementary School. I began teaching private flute lessons while in college in Ohio, and really expanded my individual lesson techniques while living in Phoenix. In addition to teaching large groups of flute beginners and intermediate students within the band setting at a public elementary school, I also excel in teaching beginners individeually at whatever age. I then spent a year student teaching and substitute teaching which taking auditions for a masters program. I am currently enrolled at the University of Georgia in Flute Performance. Piano Books: For the age under 5, I use Music for Little Mozart by Alfred. For the age 5 to 9, I use Prep Course by Alfred, Piano Adventure Pre primer lever. For the age 9 to 12, I use Piano Basic Course by Alfred, or Premier Piano Course. For the age 12 and up, I use the piano music for the adults. Read More
