I strongly believe that students should be corrected and made aware of their mistakes when learning music or a new instrument, but I also believe that these corrections and criticisms can be delivered in ways that push students to better themselves, rather than make them doubt their abilities as a musician. Nothing is more rewarding that seeing one of my students develop a love for music. Therefore, it is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting goals that are realistic and acknowledge when a student has reached a particular goal.
