I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. I began teaching flute lessons in college about 10 years ago. In addition to private lessons I have assisted with school concert and marching bands. In the beginning I like to ask each student what their goal is so that we can work towards that, whether it is to become first chair in band, make All-State, play for Solo Ensemble, perform with their church, or to just have fun and learn a new skill. I create a hands on curriculum based on the students musical proficiency. Alongside this structured lesson plan, every student will receive training on proper practicing techniques which help build their sense of guidance, responsibility, and structure. Students will also receive training for embouchure and tone development as well as warm up etudes that cater to the students skill level. In 2018, I graduated from University of Antioqua with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Flute Performance. Performing in Latin America and United States has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to play as a soloist with university of Louisiana orchestra, as well as with several orchestras in Colombia acting on this performances as the principle flutist/ principal chair.
